PRESS RELEASE
Salix Fruits ends 2019 achieving 30% growth and establishes its leadership in the citrus business

The company positioned itself as a leader among USA importers of Argentine lemons. Furthermore, it continued to grow in Asia by exporting grapes of Chilean origin.

Salix Fruits will conclude 2019 with a 30% growth and the consolidation of its position of leadership in the USA as one of the main importers of Argentine lemons.

The growth of Salix Fruits peaked during the second half of the year, thanks to its strong performance in the USA, Latin America, and Canada. The company presented its own stand at Asia Fruit Logística, Fruit Attraction Madrid, and participated in PMA Fresh Summit in California, World Food Moscow, and WOP Dubai.

Consequently, the incorporation in 2018 of two new partners: Alejandro Moralejo, as CEO, and Daniel Calvo, as CFO, allowed the company to continue strengthening the growth of its citrus business from past years. Salix was able to take advantage of new opportunities in the US by nurturing its partnerships with Argentine lemon producers, such as Padilla Citrus. By complementing the Argentine volume with imports from Mexico, Turkey and Spain, Salix provides lemons to the US market throughout the year.

“We close 2019 having established our leadership in the citrus business thanks to our structure and operational efficiency”, affirms Juana Elortondo, Sales Manager for Salix which operates offices in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Chicago, and explains: “Our goal for next year is to continue the growth achieved by delivering product of excellent quality and exceeding volume projections for the market.”

Additionally, Salix sustains growth in its US export division with Washington apples, and its very solid producer-base, as well as grapes.

“We export to the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia. This channel represents 25% of our business,” says Elortondo, and concludes: “Regarding grapes, the main origin we source out of is Chile and the primary destination is Asia, where we continue to grow year after year in countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.”
