An egyptian adventure

This time we were in Egypt, a country that never ceases to surprise us.

Our Regional Sales Manager, Diego Martínez, landed there to meet the growers of the desert area (between Cairo and Alexandria - Desert Road).

After driving 900km between donkeys, toc-tocs, taxis, trucks, vans and cars, we arrive at the company owned by Hosam and his father Mohamed, two super-professional producers that export 60% of their products to the Middle East.

It has a fairly wide variety of fruits and vegetables (oranges, tangerines, lemons, grapes, potatoes and purple onions), but we were so impressed with their strawberries that we already closed the first load for a customer in Mauritius.

Egypt

Our visit continued with a grower, packer and exporter with 19 years of experience, with which we have already worked in 2019 exporting to Vietnam and Canada.

Why do we choose them? For the quality of its fruits and impeccable packaging. You can ́t miss their Valencia oranges, which are starting their season now.

We still have in our mouths the orange ́s flavour of the next producer we visited, where we met the son and grandson of the company's founders, Ahmed.

They have 840 hectares in the desert where they produce Valencia oranges of the highest quality, which we hope to export to Canada. The road continued visiting another citrus producer that works primarily with the markets in Asia, Europe and the UK. We found very interesting it ́s lemon volume, which is really extraordinary.

The trip concluded after meeting Mohamed with whom we talked about the market of apples, kiwis, pears and apricots.

What were our impressions of the region? “It was a very positive trip in every way. At this stage we aim to choose the growers that have the best quality and in this aspect we met very experienced and serious producers”
