The pomegranate season in Peru has started!

With the end of summer in the southern hemisphere, it is time to leave with the first pomegranates from Peru to the off season markets. We are excited that demand for this fruit is growing worldwide as it has a well-earned reputation as a superfood.

Pomegranates from Perú

We started with the Peru campaign in January and will be ending in June approximately, with the peak of exports in April and May.

We already started with the first shipments of fresh fruit and the early varieties that have a utility to start supplying, but the Wonderful is still the star in terms of demand.

Pomegranates from Perú

A large portion of shipments go to Europe, followed by Russia and Canada. Basically those are the three main markets we have, but we are also working to expand shipments to new markets, and we have grown a lot in the Middle East in the last few years.

In this particular situation we are experiencing (COVID-19), it is important to highlight that the fruit sector continues to be strategic. At the moment, the export / import of fruits is guaranteed, since they are essential products and it has been shown that the virus is not transmitted through food.
